Early Life and Education

Rodrigo Amarante was born on September 6, 1976, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Growing up, he developed a passion for music. After graduating from high school, he enrolled in journalism at the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro.

Joining "Los Hermanos"

While at university, Amarante met Marcelo Camelo, a fellow aspiring musician who was part of a fledgling band called "Los Hermanos." After a few rehearsals, Amarante was invited to join the group. Initially, he contributed backing vocals and flute to their self-titled debut album in 1999.

Breakthrough with "Bloco do Eu Sozinho"

Amarante's true musical potential emerged during the recording of "Los Hermanos'" second album, "Bloco do Eu Sozinho." He cowrote several songs and played guitar, including the hit "Sentimental," which was named one of the best songs of 2001.

Recognition and Stardom with "Ventura"

With the release of their third album, "Ventura," in 2003, Amarante established himself as a bonafide frontman and leader of "Los Hermanos." As the band's primary songwriter, he contributed his most popular songs to the album and recorded most of the guitar and vocal parts.

Later Career and Solo Projects

After "Los Hermanos" released their fourth album, "4," in 2005, Amarante began exploring solo projects. He recorded an album with "Little Joy" and collaborated with Devendra Banhart and Marisa Monte. In 2007, "Los Hermanos" announced an indefinite hiatus.

Current Activities

Amarante remains active as a musician, frequently performing live and collaborating with other artists. He resides in Rio de Janeiro but often travels to the United States and Europe for concerts and collaborations.
