Adam Globus: Biographical Sketch
Adam Globus is a distinguished Belarusian writer, essayist, poet, publisher, and artist. Born in Dzerzhinsk, Minsk Oblast, he embarked on a multifaceted career that has left an enduring mark on Belarusian literature and beyond.
Early Life and Education
Adam Globus is the son of the renowned Belarusian writer Vyacheslav Adamchik. In 1959, the family moved to Minsk, where Globus pursued his artistic aspirations at the Minsk Art College named after A.K. Glebov and the Belarusian Theatre and Art Institute. He graduated in 1983, honing his skills as a painter and graphic artist.
Professional Journey
Throughout his career, Adam Globus has held a variety of positions related to literature and art. He worked as a draftsman, art restorer, and art designer. In 1987, he became the editor of the literary magazine "Rodnik." He also founded the "Suchasny Litaratar" publishing house.
Literary Achievements
Adam Globus is renowned for his literary contributions as a prose writer, essayist, and poet. His works have been translated into numerous languages, including English, German, and Catalan. He has published several books in Russian, including "Werewolves" (1991), "Demonokameron" (1993), and "Lyric BY" (2007).
Social and Political Involvement
As a member of the informal literary association "Tutseyshiya" ("The Locals"), Adam Globus played an active role in social and political issues. In 1988, the group organized the first "Dziady" commemoration in Belarus, a poignant memorial for victims of the Soviet regime.
Personal Life
Adam Globus is married to Elena Adamchik, an acclaimed Belarusian photographer. Together, they have two children and a grandson.
