Biography of Adam Lewis
Adam Lewis was a British schoolboy whose parents managed to hide a devastating diagnosis from him - cancer. The phrase "knowledge is power" is often used when referring to academic knowledge; the Pythagorean theorem or Maxwell's equations will certainly not make your life worse - and sometimes they can even be useful. However, there is information that can change your life forever - and not necessarily for the better. The most serious news of all, of course, is "you are going to die soon."
A year ago, young Adam Lewis was diagnosed with a terrible illness - doctors concluded that they couldn't do anything about the tumor growing in his brain. The boy had only a few months left to live. How did this horrifying news change Adam's life? It didn't - the boy never found out. Of course, Adam knew that his health was not in good condition - he noticed that radiotherapy and chemotherapy were not being conducted, and he was aware of the presence of the tumor. Kim Horner, Adam's mother, decided to only hide the doctors' death sentence from him; the last few months of his life, Adam was supposed to live as comfortably and peacefully as possible. Adam's parents brilliantly managed to fulfill their goal. The boy went to school, socialized with friends - in short, he lived a decent childhood life. His parents actively tried to make his last months as interesting as possible, regularly organizing various entertaining activities for Adam.
According to Chloe Netherton, Adam's sister, he remained in high spirits until the very end. Even the unpleasant medical procedures, such as the aforementioned radiotherapy, couldn't wipe the constant smile off his face. It was Chloe who noticed that something was wrong with Adam and called the doctors; they immediately conducted all the necessary tests and discovered that one of his eyes had failed. The reason behind it was quickly determined - the rapidly growing tumor was exerting pressure on his eye. The tests continued, alongside the basic medical procedures, and one of the most challenging ones was an 8-hour biopsy. Analyzing the biopsy sample took six weeks, and it was this sample that convinced the doctors that they couldn't help Adam anymore.
Adam passed away in May, breaking his parents' hearts. It is only hoped that the fact that they were able to protect him from pre-death depression will somewhat lessen their grief.
