Biography of Aishwarya Rai
Aishwarya Rai is a unique Indian actress who has achieved incredible fame beyond India. The beauty conquered the world and was crowned "Miss World" in 1994, after which she became a star of both Bollywood and Hollywood.

Early Life
Aishwarya Rai was born on November 1, 1973, in Mangalore, India. Her family was well-respected and affluent, with her father Krishna Raj being an esteemed officer in the merchant navy and her mother Vrinda being a popular and renowned writer. As a child, Rai loved art and, like many Indian girls, learned dance and music. The family later moved to Mumbai, where the future actress attended a prestigious college. She received an excellent education, studying languages, including English, which greatly helped her in her future career. However, becoming an actress or a model was not Rai's initial plan. She loved zoology and wanted to become a veterinarian or a doctor. However, her interest in the field waned, and she developed a fascination with the beauty and practicality of buildings. Rai aspired to become a famous architect whose creations could delight people for years to come. She enrolled in an Arts College but soon decided to pursue a career in the modeling industry instead.

Modeling Career
From a young age, people noticed Aishwarya's extraordinary beauty. When she turned eighteen, she was invited to join a modeling agency. Her debut on the runway was quite successful, and she began participating in various beauty pageants. Just a few months after starting her career, she won the "Supermodel of the World" competition organized by the renowned company "Ford." Shortly after, she graced the cover of the famous American magazine "Vogue." Rai became the most recognizable girl in India, receiving dozens of offers to become the face of various brands. Two years later, she appeared in a Pepsi commercial that further enhanced her popularity and recognition worldwide. Interestingly, she only spoke one line in the video. In 1994, Rai applied to participate in the "Miss India" competition and quickly became one of the favorites to win. However, she did not receive the crown and the title of "Miss India" went to another contestant named Sushmita Sen. Rai placed second and became the winner of the "Miss India World" title. She took the loss gracefully, continuing to smile at the audience even after the crown was handed to another contender. In the same year, Rai participated in the international competition "Miss World" held in Sun City, South Africa, and won with a confident victory.

Film Career
In 1997, Aishwarya Rai decided to leave the modeling industry and pursue an acting career. Her debut in Indian cinema was the semi-biographical drama "Iruvar," which won the award for "Best Film" at the International Film Festival in Belgrade. The film was in the Tamil language, which Rai did not know, so her character was dubbed by another Tamil-speaking actress, Rohini. After this successful start, Rai accepted an offer to star in the romantic comedy "Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam." Although the film was expected to be a commercial failure, both the storyline and Rai's acting were criticized. As a result, Rai decided to improve her acting skills and focused on what she excelled at since childhood - dancing. The film "Taal" was released in 1998 and received favorable reviews, with Rai's dance skills receiving special admiration.

A real breakthrough for Rai came after the release of the film "Devdas." In 2002, she played the role of the main protagonist, Paro, in this musical drama. The film was showcased at the Cannes Film Festival, and "Times" magazine named it one of the best films of the millennium. Thanks to "Devdas," Aishwarya Rai became one of the most sought-after actresses in Bollywood and gained international recognition as a film artist. Journalist Alan Morrison from "Empire" praised Rai's acting skills. Her first significant step towards conquering Hollywood was her role in the English-language film "Bride and Prejudice," which was based on Jane Austen's novel "Pride and Prejudice" adapted to Indian realities. The film was released in 2004 and was quite successful, allowing Rai to continue her career in international cinema and receive leading roles.

Public Activities
Like many actors and models, Aishwarya Rai devotes a lot of time to philanthropic activities. She has represented well-known brands, such as being the Ambassador of Elegance for "Longines" in 1999 and a brand ambassador for the major cosmetic brand "L'Oréal" in 2003, alongside renowned American artists such as Eva Longoria, Andie MacDowell, and Penelope Cruz. In 2004, the actress established the "Aishwarya Rai Foundation," with the main goal of helping the needy in India. In February 2005, she performed at the "HELP! Telethon Concert" alongside other Bollywood stars, raising funds for people affected by the tsunami. She also founded a school for underprivileged girls in Daulatpur. Aishwarya Rai was the first Indian woman to have her wax figure displayed at Madame Tussauds.

Personal Life
In 1999, Aishwarya Rai dated Bollywood actor Salman Khan. The couple often appeared in the news but separated after two years. Rai cited regular insults and humiliation from her partner as the reason for the breakup. However, Khan denies these allegations and stated in an interview in 2009 that they were untrue. During the filming of the movie "Dhoom 2" in 2006, Rai met actor Abhishek Bachchan, and a year later, the couple announced their engagement. According to Hindi traditions, their parents approved their marriage, and on April 20, 2007, Bachchan became Aishwarya's husband. Before getting married, Aishwarya, being extremely religious, lived with her parents. In 2011, the couple welcomed their first child, a daughter named Aaradhya.

Aishwarya Rai Today
One of the most anticipated movies of 2016 was "Ae Dil Hai Mushkil," in which Rai played the love interest of famous Indian actor and producer Ranbir Kapoor. In the same year, she caused quite a stir at the Cannes Film Festival. However, it was not because of her role in the film "Sarbjit" but rather her bold appearance. Rai, who always preferred a more classic makeup style, surprised everyone by appearing on the red carpet with bright purple lips. Perhaps this was a demonstration of the makeup trend of 2017, as Rai is also a face of L'Oréal.

Tabloids at the festival also speculated about her second pregnancy. It is worth noting that within five years since the birth of their daughter, Rai has returned to her previous form (height – 170 cm, weight – 55 kg), and there is no trace of her previous weight of 80 kg.
