Early Life and Education

Akin Akınözü was born on September 22, 1990, in Ankara, Turkey. His mother, Özlem Akınözü, was an actress, while his father, Tamer Akınözü, was a businessman.

Despite his mother's aspirations for him to follow in her footsteps, Akınözü initially pursued the sciences. He graduated from Büyükyürek Kolej, where he excelled in mathematics.

Inspired by the profound philosophy behind "The Matrix," Akınözü decided to pursue acting during his time at the University of California, Berkeley, where he was studying applied mathematics.

Acting Career

Akınözü's cinematic debut came in 2014 with a brief appearance in the Slovenian-Croatian co-production "Azrael." Upon returning to Turkey, he landed a role in the historical drama "Magnificent Century: Kösem."

His breakout role came with the series "Aslan Ailem" and "Rightful Throne," earning him widespread recognition and a dedicated female following.

In 2019, Akınözü starred in the hit series "Hercai," a modern-day Romeo and Juliet story. His portrayal of Miran Aslanbey garnered him numerous awards, including the Premios Nova Más for Best Leading Actor.

Following the success of "Hercai," Akınözü returned to television in "Kaderimin Oyunu," where he played a central character.

Personal Life

Akınözü has been in a long-term relationship with Sandra Pestemelciyan, an American with Armenian roots. The couple met during their university days in the United States.

Current Projects

In October 2022, Akınözü starred in the series "Tuzak," which explored themes of revenge and justice. The actor emphasized the series' focus on using revenge as a catalyst for seeking justice.
