Rajiv Hari Om Bhatia, known as Akshay Kumar, was born into a middle-class Punjabi family in Amritsar, Punjab, on September 9, 1967. After attending Don Bosco School and Khalsa College, he developed a passion for martial arts. Kumar taught martial arts in Mumbai before discovering his path to acting through a photographer-student who introduced him to modeling. The portfolio he created during photoshoots led him to send out samples to film producers.

Bollywood Breakthrough

Akshay Kumar made his acting debut in "Saugandh" (1991). His breakthrough role came in the 1992 thriller "Khiladi," solidifying his status as a Bollywood star. Throughout the 1990s, Kumar continued to shine in action films such as "Main Khiladi Tu Anari" (1994) and "Suhaag" (1994).
