Alan Ayckbourn is an English playwright and artistic director of the Stephen Joseph Theatre in Scarborough since 1970.

Theatrical Career

Ayckbourn's rich theatrical repertoire is characterized by comedic dialogues and experiments in the dramatic sphere. Some of his notable works include "Relatively Speaking" (1967), "Absurd Person Singular" (1972), the trilogy "The Norman Conquests" (1974), "Intimate Exchanges" (1982), "A Woman in Mind" (1986), and "Haunting Julia" (1994).

Plays for Children

Ayckbourn has also written a number of plays for children, including "Invisible Friends" in 1989 and "Is Where We Came In" in 1990.
