Aldo Vidussoni: Italian Fascist Party Secretary
Early Life and EducationAldo Vidussoni was born on January 24, 1914, in Fogliano Redipuglia, Italy. After completing his studies at the University of Trieste in May 1936, he joined the National Fascist Party.
Military Service and Awards
Vidussoni served as a volunteer in the conflicts in Ethiopia and Spain. In the Battle of Santander in Spain, he was severely wounded in the hand and eye, earning the Gold Medal of Military Valor.
Rise in the Fascist Party
Upon his return to Italy, Vidussoni held leadership roles in the fascist youth organization (Gruppi Universitari Fascisti; GUF). He became secretary of the GUF in Trieste in 1938 and later its national secretary from August 1940 to November 1941. He also served as a member of the Chamber of Fasces and Corporations from 1939.
General Secretary of the Fascist Party
On December 27, 1941, on Mussolini's orders, Vidussoni was appointed General Secretary of the National Fascist Party, replacing Adelchi Serena. His appointment raised eyebrows among party leaders, as he had limited political experience and was known for his critical nature.
Replacement and Later Life
Vidussoni's tenure as General Secretary was short-lived. He was replaced by Carlo Scorza on April 17, 1943. After Benito Mussolini's arrest in April 1943, Vidussoni fled to northern Italy and became involved in the establishment of the Italian Social Republic. He served as a member of the Directorate of the Republican Fascist Party and president of the national association Nastro Azzurro.
Post-War Years
After the war, Vidussoni settled in Verona, working as an insurance agent. He later moved to Cagliari, where he died of a heart attack in 1982.
