Early Life and Education

Alexander Viktorovich Melnyk was born on April 20, 1977, in Ukraine. His father was a miner, and his mother worked in a furniture factory. Melnyk's artistic talents emerged early on, and he frequently organized concerts for his neighbors. He also studied sambo and freestyle wrestling from the age of six. In school, he showcased his creativity in extracurricular activities, learning to sing and dance under the guidance of his teacher, Lyudmila Grigoryevna. During this time, he also had the opportunity to perform as Svirid Petrovich Golokhvosty in a production of Mykhailo Starytsky's play "For Two Hares."

Despite his father's initial desire for him to pursue economics and business, Melnyk followed his passion for the arts. He graduated from the puppetry department of the Dnipropetrovsk State Theater and Art College. Initially aiming for the dramatic faculty, he was discouraged by his perceived lack of height and attractiveness. Undeterred, he enrolled in the puppetry department upon the advice of his friend, Oleg Koshevoy.

Theatrical Career

Melnyk began his acting career at the Kherson Ukrainian Musical and Drama Theater named after Mykola Kulish. He currently serves at the Kyiv Academic Young People's Theater on Lyпки. His first role came in a children's play as Ivasiк-Telesik, where he played a ghoul, Baba Yaga's assistant. He later debuted in an adult production, "The Marriage of Figaro," overcoming initial stage fright with the support of esteemed actors like Olena Hall-Savalska and Vasyl Chernokur.

Melnyk has played notable roles such as Mercutio in "Romeo and Juliet," Hamlet, and Mephistopheles in "Little Tragedies." He has received critical acclaim for his intense performances, often leaving him physically and emotionally drained.

Film and Television Roles

Melnyk made his screen debut in 1999 in Stanislav Klimenko's "The Poet and Princess." He then landed a small role in the popular Russian TV series "Mukhtar." His filmography expanded with appearances in the series "Sea Devils" and "Pesa." In 2019, he played a prisoner in the satirical series "Servant of the People," starring Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Stanislav Boklan.

Recent Projects

In 2020, Melnyk portrayed the thief Maljuta in the historical drama "The Last Day of the War." He has also appeared in mini-series such as "Sashka" and "Gods vs. Bloggers" in 2021.

Personal Life

Melnyk is happily married and has three children. He met his wife in 2007 and married her in 2012. Their daughter, Elizaveta, was born in 2007, followed by two sons. Melnyk is known for his strong family values and often expresses his admiration for his wife's support.
