A Ukranian LegacyAlexander Ivanovich Zrazhevsky was born on August 25 (September 6 by the Gregorian calendar), 1886, in Mykolaiv, present-day Ukraine. Hailing from a family of Ukrainian descent, he began his artistic journey in 1905 with amateur theatre performances.
Theatrical Triumphs
Emerging Star in Ukraine and LeningradZrazhevsky's talent soon took him to professional theatres throughout Ukraine, including Odessa and Kharkiv. In 1925, he joined the prestigious Leningrad Theatre of Drama named after A.S. Pushkin (now the Alexandrinsky Theatre).
Moscow Acclaim
From 1928 to 1933, Zrazhevsky graced the stage of the Moscow Dramatic Theatre (formerly the Korsh Theatre). He then became a member of the Theatre named after the Moscow City Trade Union Council (now the Theatre named after Mossovet) from 1933 to 1935.

A Stalwart of Mały TheatreIn 1935, Zrazhevsky joined the illustrious Mały Theatre in Moscow, where he became a beloved fixture until his passing. He also played a significant role in radio theatre recordings, further extending his artistic reach.

1942: First degree, for his portrayal of Halushka in "In the Steppes of Ukraine"
1946: First degree, for his performance as Lieutenant General Muravyov in "Great Turning Point"
1947: Second degree, for his portrayal of the commander of the gunboat "Korean" in "Cruiser 'Varyag'"
Legacy and Passing
A Monument in MemoryAlexander Zrazhevsky passed away on December 14, 1950, in Moscow. He was laid to rest at the prestigious Novodevichy Cemetery. His legacy as a renowned theatre and film actor continues to inspire generations of artists.
