Early Life and Education

A Native of Odessa

Alexei Agopyan hails from the picturesque city of Odessa. After completing high school, he embarked on a seemingly technical path by enrolling in the Odessa Polytechnic Institute. However, his true calling lay elsewhere.

A Shift towards the Arts

Driven by his creative aspirations, Agopyan left his hometown alongside his friends Yuri Stytskovsky and Dmitry Shevchenko. Together, they journeyed to Leningrad (now Saint Petersburg) and enrolled in the prestigious Leningrad State Institute of Theatre, Music and Cinematography (LGITMiK), under the tutelage of master actor I.P. Vladimirov.

A Comic Career Takes Flight

KVN and the Genesis of "Masks-Show"

During his time at LGITMiK, Agopyan developed a passion for the satirical television game show KVN. This experience paved the way for his involvement in the wildly popular comedy series "Masks-Show" from 1992 to 1995.

"Kalambur": A Comedy Anthology

In 1997, Agopyan co-founded the groundbreaking television comedy project "Kalambur." This satirical anthology showcased the actor's versatility in a variety of recurring roles, including the Bartender and the Loser's Girlfriend in "Bar 'Kalambur'," the resourceful "Second Pilot" Drinkins in "Nosedive," and the amusing Bear in "Village of Fools."

Transition to Television and Film

Recurring Comedy Roles

Since 2002, Agopyan has graced the small screen in numerous television series, often in comedic roles. In the detective drama "Female Logic - 2," he played a cellmate, while in "Friendly Family" he transformed into a tutor. He also showcased his comedic talents in "Healing with Love" as the restaurant owner Lyova.

Notable Character: Ruben in "Right to Love"

One of Agopyan's most memorable performances was in the series "Right to Love." His portrayal of Ruben Gibaryan, a ruthless businessman devoid of morals, showcased his ability to navigate morally ambiguous characters.

"Guardian Angel": A Different Side

In stark contrast to Ruben, Agopyan created a memorable character in the series "Guardian Angel." As Boris Vardanian, the restaurant director, he brought a comedic touch to a character entangled in various misadventures.

Later Works and Personal Life

Reunion in "Ensign"

In 2007, Agopyan reunited with his former "Masks-Show" colleague Vladimir Komarov in the sitcom "Ensign," a spin-off of the popular series "Soldiers." The duo played two alcoholics, adding an element of humor to the military comedy.

Married but Childless

Alexei Agopyan is happily married, but the couple does not have any children.
