Anatoly Zaslavsky Biography

Anatoly Zaslavsky was born on November 2, 1939, in Kiev. During the years of 1941-1945, he was evacuated to Turkmenistan. In 1957, he graduated from the Kiev School of Fine Arts.
In 1958-1959, Zaslavsky unsuccessfully applied to the T.G. Shevchenko Kiev State Art Institute, where he was initially accepted into the pedagogical department, then transferred to the painting faculty, and eventually expelled for not knowing the Ukrainian language. He then worked as a retoucher at the Kiev factory "Zhavten". Later, he moved to Leningrad, where he graduated from the V.I. Mukhina Leningrad Higher Art and Industrial School in 1965, majoring in monumental painting.

Since 1966, Zaslavsky has been participating in city, republican, all-Union, and international exhibitions. In 1977, he joined the Union of Artists. His works can be found in several museums, including the State Russian Museum, the Museum of the History of St. Petersburg, the Museum of Theater and Music Art in St. Petersburg, the Kiev State Museum of Russian Art, the Perm Picture Gallery, the Petrozavodsk Art Museum, and the Far Eastern Art Museum in Khabarovsk. His works are also part of private collections in Russia, Germany, Denmark, Israel, and the USA.
