Biography of Anatoly Gladilin

Anatoly Gladilin is a Russian-Soviet writer and dissident. He worked as an electromechanic at the All-Union Scientific Research Institute of the Ministry of Machine Building. From 1954 to 1958, Anatoly Gladilin studied at the A.M. Gorky Literary Institute. He also worked as an editor at the M. Gorky Film Studio. In the 1960s, Gladilin was considered a talented and promising young Soviet writer.

Gladilin openly spoke out against the trial of A. Sinyavsky and Y. Daniel. In 1976, Anatoly Gladilin was forced to emigrate from the USSR. Since then, he has been living in Paris. In exile, Gladilin worked for Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty and Deutsche Welle.
