Biography of Andranik Migranyan

Andranik Migranyan is a political scientist and vice president of the International Foundation for Economic and Social Reforms. He has been a member of the Presidential Council since 1993. Since January 1994, he has served as the Chief Expert of the Committee on CIS Affairs and Relations with Compatriots of the State Duma.

Early Life and Education

Andranik Migranyan was born on February 10, 1949, in Yerevan, Armenia, to a working-class family. He completed his studies at the Moscow State Institute of International Relations in 1972, specializing in international relations. From 1972 to 1975, he worked as a research fellow at the Institute of International Labor Movement of the USSR Academy of Sciences. He holds a Ph.D. in History.

Career

From 1976 to 1985, Migranyan worked as a teacher and acting associate professor at the Moscow Automobile and Road Institute. From 1985 to 1988, he served as a senior research fellow at the Institute of World Economy and International Relations of the USSR Academy of Sciences. In 1988, he joined the Institute of International Economic and Political Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAENIP). He lectured on economics and political science at the University of San Diego in the United States from 1990 to 1991.

From 1992 to 1993, Migranyan was the head of the Center for the Study of Socio-Political Problems and Interstate Relations of the CIS at the Institute of International Political and Economic Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences. From 1992 to 1993, he served as the chief advisor to the Committee on International Relations of the Russian Federation Armed Forces.

Since January 1995, Migranyan has been the editor-in-chief of the weekly newspaper "Moya Gazeta", published by the New View Publishing House as a free supplement to the "Moskovskaya Pravda" and "Novy Vzglyad" newspapers. Since September 1995, he has been serving as a professor of political science at the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.

Involvement in Armenian-Russian Relations

Andranik Migranyan is a member of the Board of the Union of Armenians in Russia. He has been actively involved in promoting and strengthening Armenian-Russian relations.

Personal Life

Migranyan is married and has a daughter.
