Early Life and Club CareerAndreas Christensen, a Danish footballer renowned for his defensive skills, was born in Lyngby, Denmark. He initiated his football journey at the Brøndby academy, honing his craft for eight years. His exceptional talent soon captured the attention of European giants such as Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City, and Bayern Munich.
On February 7, 2012, Christensen made the momentous decision to join Chelsea as a free agent, marking the end of André Villas-Boas's tenure as the club's manager. Expressing his rationale behind choosing Chelsea, Christensen stated, "I chose Chelsea because they play the kind of football that I like."
Christensen's first involvement with the senior team came on May 19, 2013, when he was included in the matchday squad for the final Premier League fixture against Everton (2-1), although he remained an unused substitute. The following season, he featured prominently in Chelsea's pre-season tour of the United States and signed his first professional contract.
In 2014, Christensen played a pivotal role in helping Chelsea's youth team secure the FA Youth Cup and Premier League 2 trophies. His official debut for the senior side came on October 28, 2014, in a fourth-round EFL Cup tie against Shrewsbury Town (2-1), where he started as a right-back.
Borussia Mönchengladbach Loan
Seeking regular playing time, Christensen moved to Bundesliga club Borussia Mönchengladbach on a two-season loan on July 10, 2015. He made his debut for "Die Fohlen" in the first round of the DFB-Pokal against St. Pauli on August 10, 2015, which ended in a 4-1 victory. His Bundesliga debut followed on August 15, when he started the opening match of the season against Borussia Dortmund (0-4) and played the full 90 minutes.
On February 5, Christensen showcased his attacking prowess, scoring twice in Mönchengladbach's 5-1 victory over Werder Bremen. These goals marked his first professional strikes.
International Career
Christensen represented Denmark at the U-16, U-17, and U-19 levels. In August 2013, he was called up to the Denmark U-21 team at the age of 17. A year later, he played a crucial role in helping the U-21s qualify for the 2015 UEFA European Under-21 Championship by defeating Iceland in the play-offs.
Christensen made his senior international debut for Denmark in a friendly against Montenegro on June 8, 2015, which resulted in a 2-1 victory.
