Early Life and Education
Andreas Deja, an acclaimed Disney animator, was born and raised in Germany. From a young age, he developed an immense passion for traditional Disney animation. After studying art in Germany, Deja pursued his dream and joined The Walt Disney Company in 1980.
Initial Projects
Deja's debut project at Disney was "The Black Cauldron," released in 1985. During this period, he encountered Tim Burton, but their collaboration was hindered by creative differences.
Villainous Creations
Deja gained recognition as the lead animator responsible for some of the most iconic Disney villains. His remarkable creations include Gaston from "Beauty and the Beast," Jafar from "Aladdin," and Scar from "The Lion King."
Other Notable Work
Beyond his villainous masterpieces, Deja also brought to life beloved characters such as Triton and Vanessa from "The Little Mermaid," Hercules from the eponymous film, Lilo from "Lilo & Stitch," and Roger from "Who Framed Roger Rabbit."
Recent Endeavors
In recent years, Deja has served as an animation consultant for "Bambi II." Currently, he remains a permanent specialist in the field of Mickey Mouse animation and played a key role in the animation of Queen Narissa in "Enchanted."
