Biography of Andreas Johnson

Andreas Johnson, a pop-rock artist, is known for his unique style and music which draws its roots from jazz, a genre he has been listening to since childhood. He is recognized as one of the few musicians considered to be "rock poets," as people not only remember his beautiful melodies but also pay attention to his lyrics.

International success came to Andreas Johnson when his song "Glorious," which became a true "anthem," topped the charts worldwide. With this song, Andreas received prestigious nominations from European MTV for "Best New Artist" and "Best Video." Perhaps the most remarkable achievement for the Swedish musician was breaking into the British market, as "Glorious" reached the 3rd position in the UK charts and remained in the top ten for six consecutive weeks.

Andreas Johnson was born in a small university town in southern Sweden and later moved to Stockholm. He also spent a part of his life in New York. He began his musical career at the age of 13 by forming a punk band. At 23, Andreas became interested in acoustic guitar and country music, leading him to co-found the band Planet Waves. The musicians recorded their only album, "Cottonfish Tales," which was well-received by critics.

After his initial success, Andreas Johnson signed a contract with Warner Music and embarked on a solo career. His debut album, "Liebling," is a fusion of pop and rock music, combining the best American and European musical traditions in a way that had rarely been done before.

Andreas Johnson is undoubtedly one of the most promising young pop-rock artists. His debut album resembles the sound of U2, INXS, and other classic American pop-rock bands. It is a well-crafted and extensively tested blend of memorable melodies, introspective lyrics, powerful background choirs, catchy guitar chords, and a cleverly stylized Bono-like vocal. His combinations impress with their expansiveness ("Do You Believe In Heaven"), power ("The Games People Play"), and melodiousness ("Glorious"), making the album both a classic and an international masterpiece.

His latest album to date, "Deadly Happy," features 13 songs, including the first single "Shine" and the incredibly beautiful ballad "My Love (song for a butterfly)." The ideas for this album started during tours to support "Liebling." Andreas' life was in a constant state of chaotic events and ideas, which he reflected in his new album. The material was recorded at Mayfair Studios in London.

"I wanted to capture the energy of our performances. Many new songs were written during the tour. However, they are all individual. Music should have different shades... and there is no need to overthink or calculate things here," Andreas Johnson explains.

Known for his unusual performance style and music, Andreas Johnson's foundation lies in jazz, a genre he has been listening to since childhood. He is one of the few musicians considered to be "rock poets," as people not only remember his beautiful melodies but also pay attention to his lyrics.

"For me, it is important to be interesting," says Andreas Johnson. "To constantly invent something new and never stop at what has been achieved!"
