Early Life and Musical Beginnings
Born and raised in Riga, Latvia, Sergei Dronov began his musical journey at a young age, initially playing the guitar before transitioning to the bass guitar. To avoid military service, he relocated to Saint Petersburg and enrolled in the M.P. Musorgsky Music College.
Musical Career in Russia and France
In Russia, Dronov played bass for various bands, including Senses, Khaled, Biuna, "Bez Adresa," and Ilene Barnes. In the 2000s, he joined the legendary band "Akvarium" as a bassist.
Following his relocation to France in 1990, Dronov pursued collaborations with renowned jazz musicians such as Andrei Kondakov, Igor Butman, and Andrei Ryabov. He graced the stages of prestigious jazz festivals worldwide, including the Montreux Jazz Festival.
International Acclaim and Touring
Dronov's remarkable musical talent propelled him to international recognition. He performed alongside renowned artists like John Scofield, Randy Brecker, and Steve Coleman. His impressive resume includes collaborations with Indian singer Najma and recordings on several albums.

From 2003 to 2005 alone, Dronov participated in numerous festivals worldwide, including Womex, Fonne Feesten, Dunya Fest, Masala Weltbeat Festival, Territorios, Chainon Manquant, Striktly Mundial, and Trans Musikales. His performances extended to Canada, Japan, Morocco, South Africa, and various Caribbean islands.
