Biography of Andriy Tsaplienko

Andriy Tsaplienko is a journalist, presenter, and scriptwriter for the television channel "Inter" in Ukraine. He was born in Kharkiv and has a father named Yuriy Viktorovich (1946), who is an entrepreneur, and a mother named Valentyna Ivanovna (1949), who is a retiree. Andriy is married and raises a daughter and two sons. He is fluent in English and Polish.

Education

Andriy Tsaplienko attended the Kharkiv Institute of Arts from 1985 to 1991, where he studied at the acting faculty with a break for military service in the Armed Forces from 1987 to 1989. He also completed advanced journalism courses at the FOJO institute at the University of Kalmar in Sweden in 1995. In 2003, he graduated from the Faculty of Journalism at the Kyiv International University.

Career

Andriy Tsaplienko has been working in television since 1989. He started as a lighting technician at the Kharkiv Regional Television and Radio Company. In 1992, he became a reporter for the regional Kharkiv television company "Orion" and in 1993, he launched his own program called "Storm in a Teacup." In 1995, he hosted a program called "Magical Moment," a joint production of Studio +7 and the Kharkiv Regional Television and Radio Company. He then moved to the Kharkiv channel "Privat TV" in 1995, where he served as a director and presenter.

In 1997, Andriy Tsaplienko relocated to Kyiv and briefly worked as the author and presenter of the program "People" produced by TIA "Okna." In 1998, he joined the television channel "Inter" in Ukraine, initially hosting the program "Utrechko" and later becoming the host and leader of programs such as "N-ny Kilometer," "On the Front Line," and "War Correspondent." Since 2001, he has been a military correspondent for the "Inter" channel, reporting from conflict zones in Afghanistan, Macedonia, Iraq, Ivory Coast, Nepal, Sri Lanka, South Ossetia, Kashmir, Liberia, Burundi, and Colombia.

Since 2007, Andriy Tsaplienko has been working as a scriptwriter for the documentary film studio of the "Inter" television channel.

Awards

Andriy Tsaplienko has received numerous awards throughout his career, including the Order of Courage III degree for a series of reports from Afghanistan (October to December 2001). He is also the laureate of the State Prize named after I. Franko (2004) and has been recognized as an Honored Journalist of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea (2002). He has received various memorial signs and prizes for his outstanding contributions to journalism and broadcasting.

Some notable awards he has received include the Best Script Prize at the 13th International Television Festival in Bar, Montenegro, for the film "Doping. Champions Factory" (2008), and the presentation of his documentary film "Beslan. Strike against Russia" at the 45th Monte-Carlo International Television Festival (2005). Andriy Tsaplienko has also been recognized with multiple "Teletreumph" awards in the categories of Reporter (2006), Journalist/Reporter (2003), and Journalist/Reporter (2002) for his projects "On the Front Line," "N-ny Kilometer," and "On the Front Line" respectively.
