Biography of Anna Kovalyova

Early Life and Education

Anna Kovalyova, a Soviet and Latvian actress, was born on June 12, 1919, in the village of Ikrovo, Pskov Province, into a peasant family. She completed her education at the Ostrovskaya Secondary School in 1934 and later attended the Leningrad Theatre Institute, graduating in 1939.

Acting Career

Kovalyova began her acting career as a member of the Leningrad Young People's Theater (LYuZ) from 1938 to 1941. After the war, she joined the Russian Drama Theater in Riga, Latvia, where she performed from 1944 to 1947. Subsequently, she became a part of the State Theater for Young Spectators in the Latvian SSR, where she worked from 1948 to 1976.

Recognition and Awards

In 1958, Anna Kovalyova received the honorary title of Meritorious Artist of the Latvian SSR for her outstanding contributions to the field of acting.

Death and Legacy

Anna Kovalyova passed away in Riga on February 18, 1997, and was laid to rest at the Matisa Cemetery. Throughout her career, she left a lasting impact on the Soviet and Latvian theater scene, garnering recognition for her talent and dedication to her craft.
