Annie Hampton Potts is an American film and television actress, born on October 28, 1952, in Nashville, Tennessee. She grew up in Franklin, Kentucky, where she completed her high school education at Franklin-Simpson High School. She obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Theatre Arts from Stephens College in Missouri.

Early Career
Annie Potts made her acting debut in the television series "Black Market Baby" in 1977. The following year, in 1978, she received an invitation to play a small role in the feature film "Summer of My German Soldier."

Breakthrough Roles
Annie Potts has participated in numerous projects throughout her career, but her most popular and acclaimed roles came in the 1984 film "Ghostbusters" and the comedy series "Designing Women." She is also well-known for her portrayal of Mary Elizabeth Sims in the television show "Any Day Now," in which she appeared from 1998 to 2002.

Personal Life
Since 1990, Annie has been married to director and producer James Hayman, marking her fourth marriage. The couple has two sons together, James (born in 1992) and Harry (four years younger). She also has a son named Clay, born in 1981, from a previous marriage to Scott Senechal. James Hayman has been involved in the creation of renowned projects such as "Law & Order," "Any Day Now," "Murder in the First," and "House, M.D."
