Biography of Anton Webern
Anton Webern was an Austrian composer and conductor, born in Vienna on December 3, 1883. He studied under Gustav Adler at the University of Vienna and earned a doctorate in philosophy in 1906 for his work on the Dutch composer Johannes Isaac (15th century). Webern conducted theater orchestras in Germany and Prague, and also taught composition in Vienna.

Webern's career was hindered by the rise of the National Socialists, who banned his works when they came to power. He continued to compose privately, but his music was not widely recognized during his lifetime. Webern passed away in Mittersill, Austria, on September 15, 1945.
