Early Life and Education
Antonia Rose Laura Thomas was born on November 3, 1986, in London to a Jamaican mother and an English father. She is of mixed heritage and grew up in a Catholic household with two sisters. After graduating from high school, Thomas studied at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School and joined the National Youth Theatre in 2009. She also pursued a course in Fine Art Painting at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design.
Acting Career
Misfits and Breakthrough (2008-2011)Thomas made her screen debut in the short film "My World" (2008). A day after graduating drama school, she landed a major role in the British television series "Misfits" (2009-2011), playing Alisha Daniels, a character with the ability to manipulate pheromones. The series explored the complexities of adolescence and earned numerous critical accolades, including a BAFTA Award in 2010.
Post-Misfits Projects (2011-2018)
After "Misfits," Thomas appeared in a number of British films and television shows. In 2014, she joined the cast of "Lovesick" (also known as "Scrotal Recall"), a comedy-drama series that followed a young man's attempts to recall his sexual history after being diagnosed with chlamydia. Thomas played Evie, a woman who remains in love with the protagonist despite his promiscuous past.
In 2015, she provided the voice of the mobile phone in the revamped version of "Teletubbies." In 2017, Thomas landed a recurring role in the acclaimed American medical drama "The Good Doctor."
Recent Works (2018-Present)
