Apashe, a Belgian DJ and producer currently residing in Canada, has been captivating electronic dance music fans worldwide with his innovative and genre-bending sound.
Early Life and Musical Roots
Born John De Buck in Brussels, Belgium, on May 9, 1992, Apashe's passion for music emerged early on. At the age of 9, he began drumming with his father's encouragement. Later, after discovering the Fruity Loops sequencer, he immersed himself in music creation. By 18, it had become his primary focus.
Transition to Montreal and Professional Career
In pursuit of his musical aspirations, Apashe moved to Montreal, where he attended Concordia University. There, he landed a job as a sound designer at Sonart Productions in Apollo Studios. Drawing inspiration from classical, funk, jazz, drum and bass, and hip-hop, he began crafting his unique sound.
Musical Achievements
Apashe's talent was quickly noticed. He released a series of EPs through Kannibalen Records, including "Contamination" and "Ritual." His debut album, "Copter Boy," dropped in 2016 and showcased his eclectic blend of genres.
In addition to his own music, Apashe has contributed to film soundtracks, notably composing "Lacrimosa" for the 2018 film "Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw." He has also collaborated with artists such as GrandBuda, Lia, and Dope D.O.D.
Renaissance and Recent Collaborations
Apashe's second full-length album, "Renaissance," released in April 2020, further solidified his reputation for boundary-pushing music. The album seamlessly fused classical melodies with electronic beats.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Apashe embraced online performances, connecting with fans through live-streamed concerts. He also created a viral remix of Belarusian singer Maksim Korzh's hit "Maloy Povzróslel."
Personal Life
Apashe keeps his private life largely out of the public eye. However, he has mentioned that trust is essential in a relationship with a touring DJ, who may often be away from home. When he has free time, Apashe enjoys watching TV shows and dining out with friends.
