Biography of Araksiya Davtyan

Araksiya Davtyan was an Armenian opera singer (soprano) who was born into a humble family. Her father was a military pilot and her mother worked in healthcare. After her father's retirement, the family returned from Russia to Yerevan, where the future singer enrolled in the Sarajev Music School piano class. The school's director, renowned singer Melanya Cholakyan, recognized Araksiya's exceptional vocal abilities and began coaching her.

Rise to Fame

In 1984, after winning the Viotti Competition in Vercelli, Araksiya was invited to the Bolshoi Theater, where she made her debut as Violetta in Verdi's "La Traviata". Her next significant success came from a concert tour in the United States and European countries with the Moscow Virtuosi Orchestra conducted by Vladimir Spivakov. She performed in more than 120 prestigious concert halls worldwide, including Carnegie Hall (New York), Gaveau (Paris), Concertgebouw (Amsterdam), Suntory Hall (Tokyo), collaborating with renowned artists such as Riccardo Chailly, Gennady Rozhdestvensky, Klaus Peter Flor, Elena Obraztsova, Tamara Sinyavskaya, and others.
