Aron Winter: The Last of the Euro 1988 Champions

Humble Beginnings

Aron Winter began his football journey at the amateur club SV Lelystad in the Netherlands in 1985. He later joined the youth team of Ajax Amsterdam, making his way to the senior squad at the age of 19.

Rise to Stardom at Ajax

Winter made his debut for Ajax on April 6, 1986, against FC Utrecht. His impressive performance earned him the "Talent of the Year" award in his first professional season. In 1990, he became a Dutch champion and lifted the Dutch Cup with Ajax.

Success in Italy and Return to Ajax

In 1992, Winter moved to Italy, joining Lazio. He spent four seasons there, amassing 123 appearances and scoring 21 goals. In 1996, he transferred to Inter Milan, where he won the UEFA Cup in 1998. He played a total of 199 matches in the Italian league, finding the net 22 times. Winter returned to Ajax in 1999, adding another Dutch Cup title to his resume in 2001.

International Career

Winter represented the Netherlands national team from 1987 to 2000, earning 84 caps and scoring 6 goals. He was part of the legendary Euro 1988-winning squad, and also played in the 1990, 1994, and 1998 World Cups.
