Early Life and Education
Born in Germany, the renowned musicologist received his education at several prestigious universities, including Munich, Tübingen, Berlin, and Leipzig.
Journalism and Nietzsche Archive
Before embarking on his academic career, he worked as an editor for newspapers in Munich and Hamburg. Notably, from 1898 to 1899, he served as a collaborator at the Nietzsche Archive in Weimar.
Teaching Career and Wagner Specialization
In 1904, he joined the Leipzig Conservatory as a professor. His expertise lay primarily in the works of Richard Wagner, and he became recognized as a leading authority on the composer's music.
