Arthur Kocharyan: A Renowned Armenian Footballer
Arthur Kocharyan is an Armenian football player who has made a significant mark in the sport. Born and raised in Armenia, he began his professional career in the Soviet championship with Malatia.
Golden Era at Ararat (1993)
In 1993, Kocharyan joined the legendary Yerevan-based club Ararat. That season, he played a pivotal role in the team's remarkable achievement of winning both the league title and the Armenian Cup.
Domestic Dominance with Various Clubs
Kocharyan's success continued throughout his career. In 2000, he secured another Armenian Cup victory with Mika Yerevan. Subsequently, he captured the league title with Pyunik Yerevan in 2001.
International Experience and Lebanese Stint (2003-2006)
After a successful spell in Armenia, Kocharyan ventured abroad. He spent three years in Lebanon, representing Beirut-based clubs Omemeh and Hekmeh.
Triumphant Return and Goal Scoring Prowess (2006-2009)
Upon returning to Armenia in 2006, Kocharyan joined Gandzasar Kapan. Here, he became the club's top scorer in two consecutive seasons. He later moved to Uliss Yerevan, where he was crowned as the league's top scorer in 2009 with an impressive tally of 15 goals. Kocharyan was also a contender for the Armenian Footballer of the Year award.
Season of Injuries and Milestone (2010)
In 2010, Kocharyan signed a one-year contract with Gandzasar. Despite injuries hindering his progress, he managed to score eight goals, marking his 137th career goal in the Armenian Premier League.
Conflict and Resolution (2010-2011)
Midway through the season, a conflict arose between Kocharyan and Gandzasar coach Abraham Khashmanyan. Kocharyan expressed his dissatisfaction with being substituted and engaged in a verbal altercation with the coach. The conflict was eventually resolved through the intervention of executive director Vladika Arakelyan. Kocharyan apologized for his behavior, and the incident was considered closed.
International Debut and National Team Career
Kocharyan represented Armenia at both the youth and senior levels. He played ten matches for the youth team and scored four goals. His senior team debut came in 1996 against Morocco, which resulted in a 0-6 defeat. He made three more appearances in 1999, but did not score for the national side.
