Biography of Athina Onassis de Miranda
Early Life
Athina Onassis de Miranda, also known as Athina Onassis, was born on January 29, 1985, in Neuilly-sur-Seine, France. She is the daughter of Christina Onassis and her fourth husband, Thierry Roussel, heir to a pharmaceutical empire. Her parents were married from 1984 to 1986, but divorced after Roussel's affair with Swedish model Marianne 'Gaby' Landhage, who became pregnant for the second time. Athina was only three years old when her mother died of lung cancer in November 1988. She was raised by her father and Gaby, who later became Roussel's wife.

Inheritance and Controversy
The exact value of Athina's inheritance remains unknown, but it is often speculated to be around $2.7 billion. She inherited 55% of the family fortune, while the remaining 45% (excluding $26 million) went to her stepmother Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis and the Onassis Foundation in memory of Aristotle Onassis' son.

Legal Battles
Athina's inheritance was subject to intense legal battles between her father and her mother's trustees. Both sides accused each other of mismanagement, embezzlement, and even kidnapping attempts. On her 18th birthday, Athina gained control over half of the family fortune. However, on her 21st birthday, she was denied control over the remaining assets and the presidency of the Onassis Foundation, with the foundation claiming she lacked the necessary skills.

Equestrian Career and Personal Life
Athina began dating Brazilian professional equestrian Alvaro de Miranda Neto in March 2003. They got married on December 3, 2005. Athina, now known as Athina Onassis de Miranda, started competing in equestrian events and became a prominent rider. The couple currently resides in São Paulo, Brazil, where Athina purchased a duplex worth $8.6 million overlooking Ibirapuera Park. They own a company called 'AD Sport Horses' based in Fleurus, Belgium.

Passion for Greece
Despite her initial dislike for Greek culture, Athina expressed interest in reconnecting with her maternal roots. She obtained a Greek passport and decided to compete under the Greek flag instead of France's. She and Alvaro travel extensively during the World Championship Tour, where Athina serves as an official patron. In her honor, an equestrian event called the 'Athina Onassis International Horse Show' was named and is held annually in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Injuries and Real Estate Investments
In November 2012, Athina suffered a spinal injury from a horseback riding accident but returned to competition in January 2013. In February 2014, she purchased a 5.6-acre estate and stable in Wellington, Palm Beach County, Florida, for $12 million in cash. This property allows her to train and care for her horses during the winter season.
