Biography of Aubrey Plaza
American actress Aubrey Plaza is best known for her role as April Ludgate on the television series 'Parks and Recreation'. After several supporting roles in various films, Plaza landed her first leading role in the comedy 'Safety Not Guaranteed' in 2012. The actress has openly identified as bisexual. At the 2013 MTV Movie Awards, Plaza ran on stage and attempted to take the popcorn-shaped trophy from Will Ferrell. Ferrell later stated that the incident was part of the show and Plaza was escorted out of the ceremony.

Aubrey Christina Plaza was born on June 26, 1984, in Wilmington, Delaware, to lawyer Bernadette Plaza and financial consultant David Plaza. She has two sisters, Rene and Natalie, with Natalie inspiring Plaza to create comedic characters. Plaza received her name in honor of the song 'Aubrey' by the soft rock group Bread. Her father is Puerto Rican, and her mother has Irish and English ancestry. Plaza has stated, "I was the only 'different' kid in middle school, and I'm half-Puerto Rican. And yes, I have a giant family and a whole bunch of cousins in Puerto Rico."

Early Life and Education
Plaza participated in productions at the Wilmington Drama League theater company and attended a Catholic girls' school from fourth to twelfth grade. She graduated from the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University in 2006, where she suffered a stroke in 2004. Although the brain disorder caused temporary paralysis and aphasia, Plaza made a full recovery. She interned at various companies, including Samba Post-Its, a self-adhesive note paper manufacturer, and worked in different departments at the NBC television network to launch her career in television broadcasting and entertainment.

Plaza served as a production assistant for writer, producer, and director Bennett Davlin during his work on the short film 'Tc3'. She also performed improvisation and comedy sketches at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater since 2004 and appeared in stand-up comedy at clubs such as the Laugh Factory and The Improv. In 2008, Plaza participated in a prank called 'Mobile Desktop', where she and two others brought a desktop computer, including a CRT monitor, system unit, keyboard, and mouse, into a Starbucks and used it like others would use laptops. She was one of the main characters in the online series 'The Jeannie Tate Show' and played Robin Gibney in the ESPN cable channel project 'Mayne Street'. Plaza appeared in the first episode of the comedy show 'Terrible Decisions with Ben Schwartz' on the Funny or Die website.

Acting Career
Plaza portrayed the character April Ludgate, who transformed from an apathetic college student to the deputy director of animal control, on the television series 'Parks and Recreation'. The character, known for her "supergoth behavior" and "deadpan humor," was specifically written for Plaza. She played a "princess" in the comedic science fiction web series 'Troopers' on CollegeHumor. In March 2010, Plaza participated in the grand project 'A Night of 140 Tweets: A Celebrity Tweetathon for Haiti', which featured one of the most impressive and unique collections of celebrities.

In 2012, Plaza starred alongside Mark Duplass in the comedy film 'Safety Not Guaranteed', marking her first leading role in a film. In the movie, Plaza portrayed Darius, a jaded intern who responds to a classified ad seeking a companion for time travel. Gary Thompson of the 'Philadelphia Inquirer' expressed doubt that Darius significantly differed from the typical "mopey slackers" played by Plaza, but found her performance "convincing".

Plaza appeared in the film 'Scott Pilgrim vs. the World' and 'Mystery Team', which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. She also participated in a comedic sketch with Jason Bateman and Will Arnett, which was shown on the CollegeHumor website. Plaza's role as the sardonic Daisy in Judd Apatow's dramedy 'Funny People' showcased her acting abilities.
In January 2014, Plaza's film 'Life After Beth' premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, in which she co-starred alongside Dane DeHaan and John C. Reilly. The film was written and directed by Jeff Baena, Plaza's boyfriend. Plaza provided her voice to the character Grumpy Cat in the Lifetime cable channel's original film 'Grumpy Cat's Worst Christmas Ever', which premiered in November 2014.
In 2016, Plaza starred in the comedy film 'Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates' alongside Zac Efron, Anna Kendrick, and Adam DeVine. Her rebellious character, Tatiana, received praise from critics.
Personal Life
Plaza revealed that her "first love" was actor and musician John Gallagher Jr., with whom she grew up. He asked her on a date when she was 13 years old and performed a song he wrote in an Irish pub.
After filming 'Scott Pilgrim vs. the World', Plaza began dating actor Michael Cera. In 2010, she stated that she nearly married him in Las Vegas.
Plaza met Jeff Baena in 2011, and they currently live together and frequently collaborate on projects.
Speaking about her sexual preferences, Plaza stated in a 2016 interview with 'The Advocate', "I fall in love with girls and guys. I can't help it."
