Biography of Avalanch

Avalanch is a pure Spanish Heavy Metal rock band, recognized and awarded in their homeland. The band was formed in 1988 as a quartet under the name "Speed Demons". Within a few months, the project transformed into a quintet and took on the name Avalanch. The name came to them when the roof of the studio they were rehearsing in literally fell on their heads (avalancha means avalanche in Spanish), like in a bad joke.

During their frequent concerts in Spain, they recorded their first songs, and a small Asturian company called "Vudu Records" released their first LP: "Ready to the Glory". However, this work is intentionally forgotten and does not appear in catalogs. Nevertheless, it allowed them to get closer to their listeners and gain experience for future projects.

Alberto Ardines, the drummer, is the only surviving member from that time. Between August 1997 and March 1998, Avalanch recorded their new album "La Llama Eterna" in the Bunker studio, where they sang entirely in Spanish. Meanwhile, they were in negotiations with various Spanish and international record companies. Eventually, they signed a contract with the prestigious European company Underground Symphony to release an English version of the album titled "Eternal Flame", based on the album "La Llama Eterna".

After the release of this work, the press, especially in Spain, praised the band, calling them "One of the best Heavy Metal bands in Spain in the last 20 years" (Metal Hammer) and "The Heavy Metal band that Spain has been waiting for" (Heavy Rock). In late June, Underground Symphony released both versions of the album in Europe, Japan, and North America. In February, the band started a tour in Spain, performing in Madrid and appearing on the Canal+ program "Más Metal" hosted by Rafa Basa.

After this concert, Juan Lozano left the band, and Victor Garcia became the new vocalist. After Victor's triumphant performance in Barcelona, the band continued their tour with him. In November, the band finished the tour and worked on their new album "Llanto de Un Héroe" in the Bunker studio. The album was released in April 1999 and solidified their position as the best Spanish band of all time in their genre. Their fan base grew every day, as confirmed by the results of the 1999 Heavy Rock magazine referendum. Avalanch won in several categories, including Best Album of the Year, Best National Guitarist, Second Best National Band, Second Best National Cover, and Second Best National Keyboardist.

Self-sacrifice and hard work have been the companions of this Asturian band throughout the years, allowing them to reach the pinnacle of national rock. Avalanch successfully put Heavy Metal in the place it deserves. Their latest work is "Ángel Caído" released in 2001.
