Bartosz Huzarski
Biography of Bartosz Huzarski
Bartosz Huzarski is a Polish cyclist who gained worldwide recognition in a rather unique way - not through his victories on the tracks, but through a photograph of his legs with swollen veins. Huzarski himself admits that he did not expect the storm that ensued around his legs, but what shocked him even more was the wave of angry messages and accusations of doping.

Bartosz Huzarski, 33, was born in Świdnica, Poland, and has been competing in major national and international cycling tournaments since 2003. Among his most significant victories are first places in the Bałtyk-Karkonosze Tour and Tour de Pologne in 2005, a win in the Szlakiem Grodów Piastowskich in 2008, a victory in the Course de la Solidarité Olympique in 2012, and another first place in the Tour de Pologne in 2013. However, despite his successful performances in competitions, Bartosz Huzarski's name made headlines around the world for a different reason.
Controversial Photograph
In the summer of 2014, Bartosz took a photo of his own legs with swollen veins immediately after dismounting from his bicycle following the Tour de France race. This photo caused a real sensation - Facebook users literally flocked to the picture of the cyclist's tired legs with a web of blue veins. Huzarski himself did not expect such a response, but he was even more surprised by the amount of negativity directed at him because of the appearance of his swollen veins.
People began to accuse the athlete of using banned substances, comments such as "this is what doping does" were made, and many simply wrote to him saying that he was very sick, and his legs were in terrible condition. Soon, Bartosz had to respond to social media users and even somewhat justify his legs. He admitted that his legs certainly do not resemble the legs of angels from Victoria's Secret, but there is nothing too terrible about them either. Huzarski states that his legs are just further proof that sports is not only about medals and the joy of victory, but also about hard work, which can sometimes cause veins to swell and become inflamed.
Huzarski emphasized that the demands placed on the legs in cycling are incomparable to the demands of office work, and therefore, he had to remind people not to rush to accusations and especially not to accuse him of doping. He also added, for those who were genuinely concerned about his health, that he is perfectly healthy, and the appearance of his legs is a normal phenomenon for a cyclist after a race.
