In November 1981, Abruzzo made history as part of the first crew to cross the Pacific Ocean in a balloon. The Double Eagle V, piloted by Abruzzo, Maxie Anderson, and Larry Newman, soared above the immense expanse, covering a record-breaking distance of 8,382.54 kilometers.

World Records
