Early Career and Entry into Formula 1

Italian race car driver Giuseppe Moscati started his racing journey at the tender age of 14, honing his skills in karting. His talent was evident when he made his Formula 3 debut in 1977, securing a remarkable victory in his first race. By the end of the season, he had earned a respectable fourth place in the championship standings.

Transition to Formula 2 and Formula 1 Debut

In 1978, Moscati moved up the ranks to Formula 2, where he had a notable finish within the top six. He also made his Formula 1 debut at the end of the season, competing for the Surtees team in two Grand Prix events, but failed to qualify on both occasions.

Continued Success in Formula 2

The following year, Moscati returned to Formula 2, achieving podium finishes in two races and ultimately placing fifth in the championship. Despite his success, he switched teams in 1980, moving from March to Maurer, where he struggled to make an impact and only managed to score a single point for the season.

Full-Time Formula 1 Season with Osella

In 1981, Moscati embarked on a full-time Formula 1 season with the Osella team. However, his luck did not improve, as he qualified only three times out of 15 attempts and failed to finish any of the races he started.

Return to Formula 2 and Career Conclusion

Disappointed with his Formula 1 experience, Moscati returned to Formula 2 in 1982, continuing with the Maurer team. The following year, he joined Onyx, which used March chassis, and enjoyed a resurgence in his performance. He clinched four victories in the first five races and finished the championship in third place. Inspired by his success, Moscati decided to retire from competitive racing at the end of the season.

Comeback and Endurance Racing

In the late 1990s, Moscati returned to the racing scene, competing in the International Sports Racing Series (ISRS). In 2003, he took part in the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans. He continued to race in the European Le Mans Series from 2004 to 2006, securing two podium finishes in 2006.
