Bill Buckner was born on December 14, 1949, in California, United States. He attended Napa High School and later enrolled at the University of Southern California, where he was a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity. In 1968, Buckner was invited to join the Los Angeles Dodgers baseball team and made his debut in the Major League Baseball the following year. He played for various teams during his career, including the Los Angeles Dodgers, Chicago Cubs, Boston Red Sox, California Angels, and Kansas City Royals.

Throughout his career, Buckner was known for his talent, professionalism, and unique playing style, which attracted attention from experts and other baseball clubs. In 1980, he played for the Chicago Cubs and won a championship, and the following year, he was named an All-Star. However, the year 1986 became fateful for Buckner when he made a fatal error during the World Series, missing an easy ball. This incident received severe backlash from his colleagues and fans, despite his reputation as a key player on the team.

Despite the setback, Buckner continued to play until 1990. After retiring from the sport, he pursued other ventures. He relocated with his family to Idaho and became involved in real estate.
