Bob Munden, an American professional shooter, is known as the fastest gun in the world. He was born on February 8, 1942, in Kansas City, Missouri. By the age of eleven, Munden already had the skills to handle firearms. In the 1950s, while attending school, he started participating in shooting competitions called Leatherslaps organized by Jeff Cooper in Big Bear Lake, California. These competitions later evolved into the South Western Combat Pistol League (SWCPL).

At the age of seventeen, Bob Munden secured the second place in the 1958 Leatherslaps using a Colt .45 caliber borrowed from Cooper. Throughout his life, Munden is believed to have won over three and a half thousand trophies for his fast shooting abilities.

As a professional shooter, Bob Munden regularly performs at various events and has entertained audiences worldwide. He has performed alongside John Satterwhite, a former Olympic athlete and world champion in clay target shooting. Munden has also showcased his skills on television shows such as "Super Humans" on the History Channel, "American Shooter," "Shooting USA," "Shooting USA's Impossible Shots," and "Ripley's Believe It or Not."

In addition to his shooting prowess, Munden has gained a reputation as an experienced gunsmith. The Guinness Book of World Records acknowledged him as the "fastest gun in the world" in 1980 and previous editions. However, the book no longer publishes information about his records, as it is now primarily used as a reference source for school libraries. This led to disputes regarding Munden's records, which he claims to have set in the past and continues to set. Critics argue that his records are not adequately documented to be recognized as valid, and that he currently holds no official world record for speed shooting. It is claimed that the record is held by Ernie Hill from Litchfield Park, Arizona, with a time of 0.208 seconds.

Despite the skepticism surrounding his records, Bob Munden asserts that he achieved the fastest shot in the history of firearms with a time of 0.15 seconds. At the age of 68, Munden appeared on the documentary television series "Stan Lee's Superhumans." In the demonstration, using a Colt .45 caliber, he shoots two balloons placed two meters apart so quickly that only one gunshot is heard.

One remarkable incident that astonished the audience occurred during the End of Trail tournament on April 26, 1986, in Coto de Caza, California. Bob Munden amazed the spectators by performing what seemed impossible. One of the organizers, Boyd David, stated that Munden was about to do something incredible. However, Munden confidently declared that not only was it possible, but he would also perform the trick using someone else's untested firearm. He borrowed Boyd's Dakota revolver and, on his fourth attempt, successfully split the eight of hearts playing card.
