Bodo Schäfer was born on October 10, 1960, in Cologne, Germany. Despite attending school in California, he returned to Germany to study law. During this time, Schäfer accumulated significant debt that ultimately led him to take control of his own finances.

Inspired by a monetary coach, Schäfer achieved financial independence and authored several bestselling books on personal finance. Schäfer established his own company, Schäfer Finanz Coaching GmbH, in 1989. In 2000, he founded AHEAD Seminare & Coaching GmbH, which later dissolved in 2007. Additionally, he founded the children's charity "Kinder - unsere Zukunft" (Children - Our Future) in 2000.
