Rachel Dratch: Early Life and Career

Rachel Dratch was born in Cold Lake, Alberta, Canada, on March 28, 1969. The youngest of four daughters, she grew up on her family's farm. Her journey into comedy began with open mic performances in Vancouver, where she won a 'Stand Up and Be Counted' competition.

Move to New York

After her triumph in Canada, Dratch moved to New York City, where she secured a manager and agent. She spent time in Los Angeles, honing her stand-up and writing skills. Her breakout performances included appearances on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," "Late Show with David Letterman," and "Late Show with Craig Kilborn."

Television and Film

Dratch appeared as a panelist on "Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn" and "Red Eye with Greg Gutfeld," and guest-starred in "Dr. Katz, Professional Therapist." In 2004, she participated in the reality show "Last Comic Standing," becoming the first comedian eliminated. Her own HBO special, "One Night Stand," aired in 2005. In 2008, she had a 30-minute special on "Comedy Central Presents."

Hosting and Writing

Dratch co-hosted the Nickelodeon show "NickMom Night Out" and made occasional appearances on "The Opie and Anthony Show." She also helmed the website Comedy.tv. She wrote and directed the film "Women Aren't Funny" in 2012 and released the memoir "Girl Walks into a Bar ... and Other Things I've Learned from a Life of Adventure" in 2016.

Dratch currently co-hosts the podcast "My Wife Hates Me" with her husband, Rich Vos. She continues to perform stand-up and has made appearances on shows such as "The Masked Singer" and "The Book of Boba Fett."
