Early Life and Career

Ivan Serhiyenko, a Ukrainian zootechnician and agricultural innovator, was born in 1912 in Razdory, now a settlement in Ukraine. He began his career in 1931 as a zootechnician-selector and eventually rose to become the senior and then chief zootechnician at the "Prostyanets" breeding farm in the Chernihiv region.

Military Service

Serhiyenko served in the Great Patriotic War as a member of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union (VKP(b)).

Directorship and the Creation of the Kazakh White-Headed Breed

From 1946 to 1970, Serhiyenko directed the Balkashin State Breeding Farm "Balkashinsky" in the Tselinograd region. Under his leadership, the farm successfully bred the new Kazakh White-Headed cattle breed.

Agricultural Achievements

During his tenure as director, Serhiyenko's farm consistently exceeded government targets for meat production by nearly double.

Legacy and Recognition

Serhiyenko lived in the town of Balkashino, now in the Akmola region of Kazakhstan, until his death in 1976. His contributions to agriculture were recognized with numerous awards and honors, including:
