Biography of Brad Jacobs

Brad Jacobs is a Canadian curler known for his successful career in the sport. He has actively competed in provincial curling championships and has become a champion in the adult provincial championship five times and once in the Northern Ontario junior championship.

Early Career

Jacobs began curling at the age of 10 and demonstrated promising results as a junior player. In 2005, he achieved victory in the Northern Ontario Junior Championship. He later competed in the Canadian Junior Curling Championship, where his team finished with a score of 8-4, securing them a respectable 4th place. However, they fell short of making it to the playoffs.

Professional Career

After his stint as a junior player, Jacobs joined his uncle's team, Al Harnden, for the 2007 Tim Hortons Brier championship. The team, which included Jacobs, achieved a score of 5-6. In 2008, Jacobs played as a spare for his other uncle, Eric Harnden, and also had the opportunity to participate in the Tim Hortons Brier championship.

In 2008, Jacobs formed his own team, consisting of his cousins Ryan and Eric 'E. J.' Harnden Jr., and Caleb Flaxey. Together, they won the Northern Ontario tournament in 2010 and made it to the playoffs in the Tim Hortons Brier championship. This marked the first time a team from Northern Ontario had reached the playoffs since 1993.

In 2013, Jacobs, along with the Harnden brothers and Flaxey, achieved a significant victory in the Tim Hortons Brier championship. This win allowed them to represent Canada in the Ford World Men's Curling Championship, where they secured second place, only surpassed by the Swedish team led by Niklas Edin.

Olympic Gold Medal

At the 2014 Winter Olympic Games in Sochi, Jacobs, as part of the Canadian team, won a gold medal in men's curling. The team achieved a brilliant victory over the British team in the final.

Education and Current Career

Jacobs received his education at Algoma University. Currently, he works at the Royal Bank of Canada, managing accounts.

Notable Achievement

During the semi-final of The Dominion 2012 Men's Northern Ontario Curling Championship, Jacobs and his team successfully executed a challenging combination known as the "eight-ender." By the end of the end, all eight stones from Jacobs' team were in the scoring zone, earning them points. The match ended in the sixth end with a score of 14-3.
