Rohan de Saram began his musical journey in Brisbane, Australia. He pursued his education at the Queensland Conservatorium, where he honed his skills as a violist.
Berlin Philharmonic Career
Between 1984 and 2000, de Saram played an integral role in the renowned Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra. As a soloist and ensemble member, he graced stages worldwide, showcasing his virtuosic performances of works by Hindemith, Henze, Kurtag, and Wolfgang Rihm. His artistry extended to the recording of multiple acclaimed albums.
Return to Australia
Upon his return to Australia, de Saram became the Artistic Director of the Australian Music Academy in Melbourne, a position he held until 2010. His tenure was marked by his commitment to nurturing young musicians.
