Biography of Brian Grazer

Brian Grazer is an American producer who, to this day, has brought in over $3 billion in box office revenue for the films he has produced. His success knows no bounds from a commercial standpoint. Brian Grazer was born on July 12, 1951, in Los Angeles. He was an unsuccessful law student who dropped out of school in 1972 and became one of Hollywood's biggest producers, a multiple Oscar winner, and the recipient of countless other awards.

Early Career

Starting his career with television projects at NBC, Grazer produced successful films within two years, including "Zuma Beach" and "The Paper Chase". In 1980, Brian Grazer signed a contract with Paramount and entered the world of big screen cinema. It was during this time, at Paramount, that Grazer met director Ron Howard. In their creative partnership, they produced the film "Night Shift". They then went on to create the hit film "Splash" with Tom Hanks, Daryl Hannah, and John Candy. This film earned Grazer his first Oscar award for Best Original Screenplay and solidified his reputation as a talented producer with a knack for comedy.

Imagine Films Entertainment

In 1986, they officially became partners and founded the production company Imagine Films Entertainment. In 1989, the company released its first film, "The 'burbs", a comedy about vampires starring Tom Hanks. This film marked the beginning of their success. Two more films that same year, "Parenthood" with Steve Martin and "The Dream Team" with Michael Keaton, were equally successful projects. The 1995 film "Apollo 13" received nine Oscar nominations, including Best Picture, Best Original Screenplay, Best Actor, and Best Supporting Actress. In 1996, Grazer released two films that ranked fifth and sixth, respectively, in box office revenue for the year: "Ransom" and "The Nutty Professor". In 1997, another one of his films, "Liar Liar" starring Jim Carrey, crossed the $300 million mark in box office revenue.
