Brian Littrell: From Choir Boy to Global Star
Born on February 20, 1975, in Lexington, Kentucky, Brian Thomas Littrellwas raised in a devout Christian home. His deep faith guides his life and music to this day. Despite a congenital heart defect, Brian's passion for music led him to join his church choir at the tender age of five.
Early Musical Milestones
As a child, Brian's exceptional vocal abilities became evident. He performed his first solo at the age of seven and regularly featured in Christmas and Easter performances. Twice selected for the Kentucky All-State Chorus, Brian's talent earned him a scholarship to Cincinnati Bible College.
The Backstreet Boys Journey
However, destiny had a different plan for Brian. In 1993, he became the fifth and final member of the legendary boy band, the Backstreet Boys. With hits like "Quit Playing Games (With My Heart)" and "I Want It That Way," the group skyrocketed to global fame in the mid-1990s.
Health Challenges and Advocacy
Despite his success, Brian faced significant health challenges. In 1998, he underwent life-saving open-heart surgery. This experience inspired him to establish the Healthy Heart Club, a non-profit organization providing support to children with heart conditions. In 2008, after his son was diagnosed with Kawasaki syndrome, the club expanded its focus to include this acute febrile illness.
Personal Life and Family
Brian's personal life has also been marked by significant events. In 1997, he met actress Leighanne Wallaceon the set of a Backstreet Boys music video. They married in 2000 and welcomed their son, Baylee Littrell, two years later.
Solo Career and Christian Music
While continuing with the Backstreet Boys, Brian embarked on a successful solo career in contemporary Christian music. He has released several albums and singles, including "In Christ Alone" and "How Can I Be Silent."
Acting Roles
Beyond music, Brian has appeared in various television shows, including "Arthur," "Sabrina the Teenage Witch," and "Sesame Street." He also made a cameo appearance in the 2013 comedy film "This Is the End."
