Biography of Brian Molko

Brian Molko was born on December 10, 1972, in Brussels, Belgium. He was born into a family with an American banker father of Franco-Italian roots and a Scottish Jewish mother, making it difficult to determine his nationality. Throughout his childhood, Brian traveled frequently with his parents, temporarily living in Liberia, Lebanon, and later Luxembourg, where he attended a private school.

As a child, Brian was quiet and introverted, not interested in traditional "boy" games and sports. His interests were primarily focused on theater and music. There is also another version of his childhood interests, with some claiming that he smoked marijuana from a young age and had a punk appearance. However, it is difficult to judge now, as Brian's upbringing could have shaped him in either direction. Nonetheless, as a "theatrical" child, Brian discovered makeup from an early age and by the age of eleven, he was skilled at applying makeup and often wore women's clothing.

After finishing school, Brian defied his parents' wishes and moved to London to study at the acting department of Goldsmiths' College. Alongside his acting skills, Brian also developed numerous harmful "bohemian" habits. He could no longer imagine himself without makeup, women's accessories, and clothing. Additionally, he discovered his talent as a performer and composer, learning to play the guitar and training his vocals. During this period, he met Stefan Olsdal, the future bassist of Placebo. Shortly after their meeting, the band "Ashtray Heart" was formed, which later changed its name to "Placebo".

Brian Molko, with his ultra-extravagant image, quickly became one of the most provocative stars of the English rock scene, earning nicknames such as "Ladyboy" and "Sex God". He gained a large following and numerous imitators. For several years, he reveled in his controversial fame, living by the motto "sex, drugs, rock and roll". Journalists eagerly circulated his admissions of bisexuality and cocaine use. However, time changes all values.

In recent years, Brian has matured and calmed down. He has overcome drug addiction and alcohol, and wild parties have taken a backseat. Even his image has become somewhat neglected. However, his voice and undeniable talent remain unchanged. His love for music has proven to be the strongest and most enduring.
