Early Life
Born on February 10, 1996, in Perth, Australia, Brianna Throssell began her swimming journey at the tender age of nine. Coached by Mick Palferi and Rohan Taylor, she embraced physiotherapy as her future academic pursuit in 2013.
International Debut and Youth Success
Throssell made her international debut in 2012. Her breakout came at the 2014 Nanjing Youth Olympic Games, where she claimed an impressive seven medals, including three individual bronze finishes in the 200m freestyle, 100m butterfly, and 200m butterfly.
Olympic Debut and Rio Silver
Qualifying for the 2016 Rio Olympics through the Australian trials, Throssell earned a remarkable silver medal in the 200m butterfly, narrowly behind Madeline Groves.
World Championship Podiums
Throssell's international success continued at the 2017 World Championships in Budapest, where she contributed to the bronze-winning 4x100m mixed medley relay. At the 2019 World Championships in Gwangju, she ascended the podium twice with gold medals in the 4x100m and 4x200m freestyle relays. Additionally, she earned silver medals in both the mixed 4x100m medley and women's 4x100m medley relays.
