Biography of Brid Brennan
Olivier Award NominationsIrish actress Brid Brennan has received two nominations for the prestigious Laurence Olivier Award for her work in the plays "Rutherford and Son" at the National Theatre and "The Little Foxes" at the Donmar Warehouse. She portrayed the character of Agnes Mundy in Brian Friel's play "Dancing at Lughnasa" and also played the role in original productions in Dublin, West End, and Broadway, winning the prestigious Tony Award for Best Actress in a Play.
On Screen Success
Continuing her portrayal of Agnes Mundy, Brennan appeared on the big screen in the highly acclaimed film adaptation of "Dancing at Lughnasa" directed by Pat O'Connor in 1998. The film was produced by Noel Pearson and also starred Meryl Streep, Gerard McSorley, and Michael Gambon. Brennan won the Irish Film and Television Award for her performance in the drama. In 1999, she took on the role of Maisie Madigan in Noel Pearson's production of "Juno and the Paycock," the second play in the so-called Dublin Trilogy, at the Gaiety Theatre in Dublin. She also starred as Sister Aloysius in the production of "Doubt" at the Abbey Theatre Dublin.
