Burton Reinhardt: Pioneer of American Television News
Burton Reinhardt was a pivotal figure in the development of American television news. As an early president of CNN, he played a crucial role in establishing the global news network during its formative years.

Early Career and Wartime Photography
Reinhardt's journalistic career began during World War II, where he served as a combat photographer in the Pacific. He captured historical footage, including the return of General Douglas MacArthur to the Philippines.
"Fox Movietone News" and Beyond
After the war, Reinhardt worked as a news editor for "Fox Movietone News," which provided newsreels to movie theaters. He also held executive positions at "United Press International Television News" and "Paramount Pictures," where he led their video division.
Joining CNN and Shaping the News Landscape
In 1979, Reinhardt joined the fledgling CNN team as it prepared for launch. He was appointed president of the channel in 1982 and overseen its significant expansion, including the launch of "Larry King Live."
