Bvlgari: The Italian Luxury Brand
Bvlgari is a well-known international luxury brand that specializes in jewelry and watches. The company was founded in Rome, Italy by a Greek entrepreneur named Sotirio Bvlgari. Born into a family of silver craftsmen in the small village of Epirus, Sotirio moved to Italy with his brother in 1879.

The Birth of a Brand
In 1885, Sotirio and his brother opened their first joint store, where they produced and sold silver jewelry. At that time, silver was considered the most exquisite material. Prior to opening their own store, Bvlgari sold their creations directly outside the French Academy building. Ten years after its opening, the store relocated to a more prestigious location, marking the first step towards the company's successful jewelry production.
Expansion and Success
In 1905, Bvlgari's store moved again, this time to Via Condotti. The strategic location attracted a large number of tourists, contributing to the store's growing sales. The name of the store, "Old Curiosity Shop," was reminiscent of an antique store and coincidentally resembled the title of a famous novel by Charles Dickens. Bvlgari's style evolved over the years, incorporating gemstone jewelry and classic French forms, which enhanced the reputation of their creations.
A Legacy Continued
After Sotirio's passing, his sons took over the company and continued their father's legacy. In 1934, Bvlgari opened a new flagship store with a remarkable design that was featured in the prestigious Italian encyclopedia, "Enciclopedia Treccani." The success of the brand continued, and in 2009, Bvlgari celebrated its 125th anniversary with an exhibition showcasing over 600 jewelry pieces and gemstone creations.
The Introduction of Watches
In the 1920s, Bvlgari expanded its offerings to include watches. However, it wasn't until the 1970s that the brand gained international recognition with the release of their iconic "snakewatch," a bracelet watch that wrapped around the wrist like a snake. The unique and extravagant design, adorned with precious gemstones, made these watches unmistakably Bvlgari.
Bvlgari Today
Today, Bvlgari is globally renowned for its distinct design, exceptional quality, and innovative approach. The brand's jewelry and watches combine extravagance with uniqueness, attracting the attention of popular actresses such as Kirsten Dunst, Julianne Moore, and Rachel Weisz. Bvlgari remains a symbol of luxury and sophistication, adhering to its philosophy and style, making it a popular choice worldwide.
