Keidansky was a prominent figure in chess composition, establishing the logical school of chess composition with Johann Koch. His early work was sometimes published under the name of his stepfather, Kannengieser.
Das Indische Problem
In 1903, Keidansky and Koch published the seminal work "Das Indische Problem" ("The Indian Problem"). This publication drew attention to innovative puzzle ideas, emphasizing the importance of critical moves, piece maneuvers, diversions, and the pursuit of clear and elegant solutions.
The Logical School
"Das Indische Problem" played a crucial role in the development of the popular logical school of chess composition. Keidansky and Koch's emphasis on critical threats and piece interplay became defining characteristics of this approach.
