Biography of Caroline Corr

Caroline Georgina Corr was born on March 17, 1973, in Dundalk, Ireland. She is a pop musician from Ireland, best known as the drummer of the family quartet 'The Corrs'. Caroline also plays the traditional Irish drum called bodhran and the piano.

Early Life and Musical Education

Caroline, like the other future members of The Corrs, began learning music at home. Her parents used to give amateur concerts in the county, and she also took professional music lessons. In her childhood, Caroline suffered from shyness. According to her sister, she was so self-conscious about her freckles and red hair that she couldn't focus on the music. Initially, Caroline only played the bodhran, a vertical Irish drum, on the early albums of The Corrs. The distinct sound of this instrument can be heard in traditional Irish songs such as "Haste To The Wedding," "Lough Erin Shore," "What Can I Do," "Head In The Air," "Forgiven Not Forgotten," and "Give me a reason." Caroline learned how to play the bodhran by herself, studying video recordings of performances by renowned musicians. She later learned to play the drums from one of her boyfriends, and through constant rehearsals, she reached a level of proficiency that allowed her to handle the drums in The Corrs.

The Corrs and Success

In 1990, Caroline, along with her two sisters and brother, founded the quartet The Corrs. A few years later, the group achieved success with the release of their debut album, "Forgiven, Not Forgotten," in 1995 on the American label Atlantic Records. They followed it up with several successful albums, and the band gained global fame. Like many other members of the group, Caroline Corr took a break from her music career in the early 2000s to focus on raising her children.

Caroline Corr married her long-time boyfriend and fiance Frank Woods in August 2002. The small wedding ceremony took place in Mallorca, with Caroline's famous sisters Sharon and Andrea as bridesmaids. The highlight of the wedding was the presence of Bono from the band U2, which attracted media attention. In the same year, Caroline announced her pregnancy, and on February 12, 2003, she gave birth to a son named Jake Gerard. Just over a year later, in October 2004, Jake welcomed a sister named Georgina. By November 2004, Caroline had returned to her drums. After the release of the album "Home" in 2005, Caroline announced her third pregnancy. On December 1, 2006, she gave birth to a daughter named Rhiannon.
